HOW IT ALL STARTED

Mark, creator and co-founder of CalorieWiz, started his weight loss journey 7 years ago, when he weighed 222lbs. He mapped out his weight loss plan, which consisted of 30-40 minutes of exercise 5 times per week and only eating healthy foods. He noticed that his weight loss was minimal, with only 4-5 pounds in the first month.

Mark decided to count calories and no longer follow a restrictive diet. The results were immediate, within the first 2 weeks, he was able to lose 5 lbs, and in total lost 52 lbs.

How does CalorieWiz work?

CalorieWiz makes losing weight easier by calculating portions for you by using the following steps:

  1.  Select the meal you want to add food to
  2. Search and select foods you want to eat
  3. CalorieWiz will calculate the portions for you
  4. Eat!

Am I able to change my settings after signup? 

Yes!

  1. Tap the menu icon at the top left corner
  2. Select Settings
  3. From here you can change any of the settings from when you signed up

How are calories calculated?

CalorieWiz uses the Harris Benedict Equation to calculate your basal metabolic rate (BMR). Your basal metabolic rate is the amount of calories needed if you were to lay around with no energy expenditure. The Harris Benedict Equation uses your BMR and applies the activity level (energy expenditure) that best describes your lifestyle to determine your daily caloric maintenance level (the amount of calories to consume to maintain your current weight). CalorieWiz uses this to calculate the amount of calories to consume in order to hit your goal! Remember that everyone is different, and everyone’s numbers will be different depending on the factors below. In order to hit your goals, it is best to be as accurate as possible when selecting the options below.

Can I enter my own workouts?

No. When you register, you select the activity level that best describes your average day. The activity level selected includes the average amount of calories you burn during a typical day. Therefore, if you exercise 30 minutes per day, you do not need to enter the calories you have burnt, as it’s already been accounted for.
