Empowering the women of Salem, OR through fitness | Creating a space for moms to come & work with personal trainers specialized in their unique needs.
Have you ever laughed so hard a tear ran down your…leg?
One in three women suffer from incontinence after having their babies. Many of them either laugh it off because they think it is normal and everyone they know has the same problem or they are embarrassed by it. Pelvic floor dysfunction can present itself in many ways, from incontinence to knee pain to painful sex.
But, it doesn’t have to be that way.
Cara Turnquist has been a personal trainer for over 15 years, and during that time it has been her life’s mission to open a women’s center that brought together professionals from different disciplines to offer holistic care to women in her community. When she met personal trainer Jill McLean seven years ago they developed a friendship and eventually a business, and it was clear that they shared the same vision. The two of them put a plan in motion to help women feel strong and empowered on the inside and out!
Together they run Movement Duets, a personal training business that specializes in pre and postnatal fitness. They work with women of all ages to build strength while honoring their symptoms and the transitional phase that their body is in.
Over the next few months they will be joining forces with the Physical Therapists of The Pelvic Wellness Center, the PNW Doulas and several other women-owned, women-centered businesses to offer the women of Salem, OR a haven of health and fitness that has never before been available. They will continue to help women have more comfortable pregnancies, heal their ab separation, stop peeing when they cough, have better sex and more.
“I’m just about the only mom in my bootcamp class who doesn’t have to run to the bathroom during burpees!” says a newly postpartum Movement Duets client of one year.
We want to keep having success stories like these. And with your help, we can.
Please donate and help them keep their business alive and fulfill their dream. Help them help and empower women in our community. Having a child should not keep women from fulfilling their dreams and living their biggest lives! Your money will not just go towards the purchase of gym equipment, it will go towards helping women feel strong and proud in their changing bodies. Imagine what could happen if more women in our community felt that way?
