The Bard’s Bounty Cafe | A Shelton-Olympia family cafe featuring tasty food, live acoustic music and RPG/tabletop games.
After 25 years of marriage, two kids, years of working in restaurants, bakeries, schools, and clubs, what’s next?
Opening our own place. The Bard’s Bounty, located on the Lacey-Olympia border, will feature great food, live acoustic music, and RPG/tabletop gaming. Amy is a cook whose resume includes The Biltmore Estate and Anthony’s, along with a decade of food service and kitchen management. Joel is a musician and gamer who has booked, mixed, and run music venues in Denver and Seattle.
So why Indiegogo?
Along with having a lot of experience in these kinds of places, we’ve both done our homework. Times ten. We know that however much runway cash you think you’ve got, assume you need more. Licenses, equipment rentals, signage, repairs, insurance, there’s no end to it. Not to mention the fact that when we finally went public with our grand plan, we had friend after friend coming up to us and asking if we were looking for investors. Well, the short answer was ‘no’. This was not something we were designing to scale up and give investors a 10x return on their money. We were just looking to create a great acoustic music and game venue with tasty food. “That’s all we want,” they said. “We know Amy’s an amazing chef, and if there’s a way we can help you get off the ground, and maybe have a few free beers whenever we’re in Olympia, it’s a win-win!”
That made sense to us. So we’ve decided to open The Bard’s Bounty up to contributions with some fun perks, purchases and gifts thrown in. Take advantage if you feel so inclined. Whether you do or not, you’ll always have a table waiting near the stage. Pull a guitar off the wall, come on up and teach us a tune.
