URGENT! 10 Day Flash Funding | Two bakers. One shared vision. Sustainably sourced, familiar baked goods with an upscale twist.
Mama Donna’s Bakery and Honey & Rose Bakery are launching a joint venture as two independent bakeries located in West Chester, PA. Mama Donna’s Bakery creates exceptional breakfast pastries and baked goods for luxury apartment complexes, hotels, and restaurants. Honey & Rose Bakery creates extraordinary custom cakes, cupcakes, and homemade granola for local retail as well as wholesale markets. Together, we intend to reintroduce consumers to small-batch, locally sourced, high quality, all natural and sustainable ingredient products – farm to oven, oven to fork.
- Non-GMO flours
- Organic, cage-free eggs
- Non-GMO butters and creams
- Raw sugars and honey
- Natural flavors and colors
- No preservatives
To accomplish this goal, we are targeting the luxury markets, as these are the clients that are best positioned to appreciate the quality, sustainability, and skills that we can offer.
These markets allow us to use the professional skills developed in our previous careers and become not just vendors, but true client partners who work hard to help our clients enhance their luxury brands.
As an example, Mama Donna’s Bakery currently partners with a 275-unit luxury apartment complex for the 55+ demographic. As the exclusive provider of their daily continental breakfast, we work with the property manager and staff to ensure all products are tailored to meet the residents’ needs at a level of quality that enhances the luxury brand.
As we continue to scale up and establish our brand within these markets, we can expand our impact on the local economies by hiring staff and sourcing local ingredients.
What We Need
Our most immediate and very pressing need is to move into a space that serves as a production space for our products, with enough room to include a tasting/demo room for clients. We have located a suitable space; however, with our current lease at the Artisan Exchange expiring at the end of January, we have to be prepared to move very quickly.
Immediate Needs – 10 Day Flash Funding:
- $3,500 for first/last month’s rent + security deposit
- $1,200 for licensing and inspections
- $2,500 for insurance
- $8,000 for equipment (larger oven, plumbing, electric)
- $800 for professional movers
This flash funding will move us out of our current space and into the new space as quickly as possible without having to interrupt production.
Once settled, we can begin to address longer-term goals for a more extensive build-out that will support our expansion.
What You Get
Check out our perks! Cookies, handmade bagels, breakfast treats, and even a cake decorating demo are just some of the great Thank You gifts we can offer in return for your donation. The first 10 funders will find some extra special goodies in their shipment.
Mama Donna’s and Honey & Rose bakeries both began operations about three years ago as part of a local community kitchen called the Artisan Exchange. The Exchange serves as a small business incubator for food producers where entrepreneurs can have access to fully licensed commercial kitchen space to test, refine, and sell their products. For two start-up bakeries, it’s been an invaluable resource, but we are both quickly outgrowing the space and need to make the jump to reach a wider base of customers. We are ready to fly!
We need your help to make this happen! Given the limitations we face by working out of a community kitchen, we are not able to raise all of the necessary capital to make the leap to the next level. We have a small window for making the transition from the community kitchen space and into our own space where we can be fully prepared for future growth.
Risks & Challenges
Our biggest challenge right now is timing. In a perfect world, we will be able to transition smoothly out of the leased spaces we currently occupy and into our own space without needing to interrupt production or deliveries to our customers. This is why this campaign must be done now…with money in hand, we can lock in the new location and begin the work of making our move. The good news is that the space we identified needs a minimal amount of work to be functional.
In the meantime, we’re preparing Plans B, C, and D….just in case!
