The Future is Frozen | Damn delicious desserts done different.
Birth of the Frozen Donut Hole
Basic donuts beware, Frodohs are some next level sweetness. One day, founder Simon Amato stumbled across his neighbor’s box of frozen donuts while dog sitting and was intrigued by the texture and flavor of the ice-cold treats. But he knew they could be so much more. He hit the kitchen with nothing more than an idea and a sweet tooth, and left with the perfect recipe. Through testing and collaboration, the FroDoh was created with Squad members Holly Wilson (co-founder & COO), Al Cimino (CMO), and Diego Lyon (CTO). The FroDoh: a scrumptious donut center, coated with a delicious glaze, rolled in a crumbly topping, and chilled to frozen perfection. Damn.
Have you ever left a package of donuts on your kitchen counter, where after just a few days the donuts get stale and moldy? FroDoh is not only looking to extend the shelf-life of donuts and other baked goods, but also to create a completely new experience where FroDohs can be eaten straight out of the freezer, while staying soft, fluffy, and frozen. We’ve tested 20+ recipes over the past few months to finally find our secret sauce and create the FroDoh.
Where we are now
- Invited to participate in Terp Start-up Incubator
- Raised and donated over $1,000 for charity
- Received grant from the UMD Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship and chosen as Pitch Dingman Semi-Finalist
- Winner of the $1,000 Jason and Jamie Cohen Entrepreneurship Fund Award
The #FroDohSquad is currently operating and selling out of the Maryland Food Co-op where we bake every Sunday to get inventory ready for the week—which sells out by the end of the week about 50% of the time. In one semester we’ve sold over 1,500 FroDoh Boxes and generated over $6,000 in revenue. Three of us (Simon, Holly & Al) are recent graduates and we have all agreed to ditch the traditional job search and pursue this amazing entrepreneurial journey together. We’ve brought ourselves to the point of maximum production capacity and need your help to take that next leap.
What we need
We want to raise $10k to fund the next step in our growth process where we will be operating out of a food incubator in Washington, D.C. called Union Kitchen. These funds will allow us to work full-time on this project, pay for rent at the Union Kitchen ($1,295/month), purchase necessary materials (ingredients & kitchen equipment), and help with marketing and advertising this exciting new venture!
What’s in it for you
You would officially be part of the FroFam, your donations to this campaign will help our FroDoh Dreams come true, and you would be participating in our revolution of the frozen desserts industry. We are excited for the next Fro-Phase and our emergence into the sweetest industry!
